In the past years, the Dutch harness horse has become more and more popular. In the past years, there has been a huge breakthrough of the Dutch harness horse in the international combined driving sport. At several Driving Championships a great part of the competing horses were KWPN bred, many of them were registered as KWPN harness horse. Lots of medals were won with KWPN-horses. The Dutch horse was already gaining field in the carriage driving sport and these successes have confirmed their establishment in this elite branch of the equestrian sport world wide even more.
The KWPN horse can impress with its perfect front legs, can present itself very well by nature and is healthy and strong. The KWPN horse is usually a good walker, which is crucial in the combined driving sport. The walk is an important part of the dressage test and an important phase of the marathon. Where as KWPN dressage and jumping horses are very characterful most of the times, the harness horse is known for its coolness. The harness horse is cool in his head, willing to work and yet sanguineous. He will not be distracted and remains calm under all circumstances.
