Obsession Taonga wins day prize, Secret Lover claims overall victory class M
The KWPN Stallion Show provided the stage for an incredibly exciting final in the Anemone Horse Trucks Stallion Competition M-Class tonight. Vitalis son Obsession Taonga claimed the day’s victory with a top score of 90.6 points, but Secret Lover (by Secret) won the neck-and-neck race for the overall title.
Charlotte Fry and Secret Lover (Secret out of Oh La La by Fürstenball, breeder B. Zumbruch from Wangerland) had already won the preliminary rounds in Kronenberg and Groningen, giving them an advantage heading into the final. The complete stallion received a total score of 90.2, with a highlight of 9.3 for the canter. Although the pair just missed out on the day’s victory, they still took home the overall title in this final.
Talent for collection
Maarten van der Heijden provided insight into the final tests on behalf of the jury panel. “This is a horse with a very beautiful silhouette and a lot of talent for collection. He showed great willingness to work and executed smooth transitions. The canter stood out with its energy and activity while always remaining uphill. The walk had good rhythm and improved throughout the test. In the trot, we saw a lot of swing, rhythm, and shoulder freedom.”
Top three
With a minimal difference of 0.2 points, the reserve title went to Lara van Nek and Obsession Taonga (Vitalis out of Jatilinda elite preferent IBOP-dres sport-dres PROK by All At Once, breeder Stal 104 from Wijdewormer). “The walk is very diligent, and even after the transitions, the first step is immediately pure and relaxed. He trots with a lot of push, with the hind leg always well connected and stepping under. The canter has good rhythm with a lot of self-carriage.” In third place was Ibiza son Ozzy TN (out of Marabella by For Romance, breeder C. Ortmann Ellerbrock from Friesoythe) ridden by Kim Alting.
