The KWPN stallion selection committee for show jumping has honored two stallions for their contributions to breeding by awarding them the keur predicate. Bacardi VDL and Cape Coral RBF Z were just celebrated in Den Bosch.

The keur predicate is granted to stallions with offspring of at least seven years old who have distinguished themselves positively in both conformation and sport performance.

Bacardi VDL
The Corland son Bacardi VDL (out of a Kannan mare, bred by Frans van de Linden from Haaren) has had a remarkable sport career. As a seven-year-old, he won the silver medal at the World Championships for Young Jumping Horses with Jos Lansink, and later, under Janika Sprunger, he advanced to the highest level of the sport, including participation in the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Tryon. Although Bacardi VDL has produced a limited number of offspring, he has already proven to be a standout sire. He has produced two top-level jumpers, Gigi-Carmen and Goldenstar, while others like Gouvernante VDL, Gerdinieke, and Fremont VDL compete at the 1.50m level. These achievements are particularly impressive given that only 46 of his registered offspring are three years or older. Additionally, Bacardi VDL, who now stands at stud at Stal Tops in Valkenswaard, is the sire of the KWPN-approved stallion Glenfiddich VDL.

Keur predicate for Cape Coral RBF Z
Last year, the Cornet Obolensky son Cape Coral RBF Z (out of an Argentinus mare, bred by Marcel Coenen from Roggel) was approved by the KWPN at the age of fifteen after successfully completing the five-day character test. This impressive grey stallion competed internationally at the 1.50m level with Pieter Keunen and is proving to be an outstanding sire. His oldest offspring are already competing at the 1.45m level, including La Luna Especiale, Laguna HX, Lugano, Limited Edition HX, Liana DXB, and Constantin Z. His first crop also produced six daughters selected for the NMK (National Mare Championship), and as a sire for Stal Hendrix, he has already produced two KWPN-approved sons: the outstanding performer No Mercy and the premium stallion Opus One JDV.
