16 dressage stallions selected for second round viewing
On the fourth day of the first round viewing, the stallion selection committee added 16 stallions to the collection for the KWPN Stallion Show, including six sons of Las Vegas.
Yesterday, two sons of Las Vegas were already selected, bringing his total to eight sons advancing to the second round viewing. Just like last year, he was the top sire in the first round viewing powered by AJ Bedrijfsdiensten.
Calm in the ring
Several sons of Livius (2), Kjento (2), and Jovian (2) were also selected. "We have seen quite a number of Las Vegas offspring and have applied the same guidelines to his progeny, allowing us to make further selections in Den Bosch. Some stallions had a bit of difficulty maintaining balance in the canter, so we made our selections accordingly," said Bart Bax. "What is especially positive is the good collaboration with the team in the arena. When a stallion gets a little too fresh, they let the horse stand in the corner for a moment to catch its breath. Nine out of ten times, the calm returns, which benefits everyone, as it allows us to better assess the stallions' natural aptitude. This approach works very well, and the schedule has enough flexibility to take this extra time when needed. We’ve certainly seen another set of complete stallions today, and compared to yesterday, there were fewer remarks to be made during the conformation assessments. As a committee, we are very satisfied so far and are looking forward to tomorrow, when the sons of younger stallions will enter the ring," Bart Bax concluded. After four days of selection, the total now stands at 68 dressage stallions.
