Championships inspection returns to KWPN Stallion Show
The championship inspection returns during the KWPN Stallion Show. From January 29 to February 1, the audience can once again feel the tension that traditionally accompanies the championship inspection. The awarding of premium stallions will remain in place.
"With the championship inspection, we want to add more excitement to the program," explains Ralph van Venrooij, head of the Breeding department. "In 2020, we bid farewell to the championship inspection, and the premium stallions were no longer ranked. With the premium stallions, we aim to showcase the best stallions of the year and indicate the direction in which breeding should evolve."
Emotion
“Premium stallions will continue to be recognized, but in addition, we want to crown a champion stallion. Of course, the championship inspection is only a momentary snapshot, but we know the public always engages with great emotion during such a highlight of the stallion inspection. We are eager to bring this back, so that the stallion selection becomes even more captivating to follow and concludes with a spectacular finale.”
Champions and reserve champions
The championship inspection will return across all four breeding categories. In the stallion selections for jumper and dressage horses, both a champion and a reserve champion will be chosen. In the smaller breeding categories for Gelderlander and harness horse stallions, only a champion stallion will be appointed.
