WC Four-in-Hand Driving: Gold for TeamNL and silver for Bram Chardon
What a fantastic finale today at the World Championship for Four-in-Hand Driving in Szilvásvárad, Hungary. Once again, high temperatures and a challenging cones course marked the day. Boyd Exell achieved what he came for: securing his seventh world title. However, he could feel the pressure from Chester Weber and Bram Chardon right behind him.
The cones course consisted of 20 obstacles with multiple routes. Only three out of the 44 participants managed to stay clear and within the time allowed. Bram drove a brilliant round, clear and within the time, securing not only the team gold but also an individual silver medal.
Chester Weber had built a significant lead with his fantastic dressage test, but two balls down in the challenging obstacle 19—clearly a deciding factor—dropped him to third place. Koos de Ronde also put in a fantastic round, leaving all the balls up but incurring minimal time penalties. He finished fifth in the marathon and eighth overall. Just ahead of him was IJsbrand Chardon, who also had to accept a fault in the cones.
The performances of these horses can be followed via the media guide. Follow the World Championships for Four-in-Hand Driving in Szilvásvárad on KWPN.org.
