There was talk upfront of the very best dressage stage in the world, and the World Young Dressage Horse Championship absolutely lived up to that for the KWPN Select Sale. Prior to the final of the five-year-olds, the very first edition took place in the sun-filled stadium. After an incredible bidding duel, the Blue Hors Romanov son Of Ice And Fire US, was sold for 335,000 euros.

“The auction has really exceeded all our expectations,” sounds a very satisfied Ralph van Venrooij afterwards. “This would not have been possible without the trust of the owners and the cooperation of everyone who helped make this auction possible. Of course also thanks to the confidence of the buyers. It has been proven that this event really is the best stage for these dressage horses and foals.”

“A dream come true”
The tone among the young dressage horses was immediately set. Kyton daughter Penny Lane (out of Favorieta A elite sport-dres PROK by Wynton, breeder Rom Vermunt of Geesteren) managed to present herself excellently under saddle and was eventually sold for the top price of 175,000 euros. She will stay in the Netherlands, just like the auction topper Of Ice And Fire US (out of Ice Ice Baby US voorl keur PROK by Davino V.O.D., breeder Unlimited Stables). “It's a dream come true for her. It's an opportunity for her and I think it's incredibly fun to experience,” Christa Bijleveld is rightfully the proud new owner of Of Ice And Fire US. She purchased the five-year-old gelding for Junior rider Dominique van Dalsen, who can't believe her luck. “It feels really unreal that I get this opportunity. And I am incredibly looking forward to the future with him,” is the first reaction of seventeen-year-old Dominique van Dalsen. “It was really very exciting, it went on and on and I am very happy that in the end we had the last bid.” The average price of the young dressage horses was almost 107,000 euros.

Lots of foreign interest
That clients from all corners of the world were present at the World Young Dressage Horse Championships was abundantly clear. Customers came from Denmark, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Bidders from America were also frequently present.

40,000 euros for Bon Courage son
There was also a lot of interest in the dressage foals. The most expensive foal sold was the number three of the National Foal Championship, the Bon Courage son Unino (out of Kagranta stb-ext by Uphill, breeder Rieke Kolner). He was sold for 40,000 euros to a Dutch buyer. The son of Glamourdale out of Vitalis' full sister, U've Got Mail PP (out of O.Victoria, breeder Reesink Horses) also proved to be in demand, and was bought for 30,000 euros by a top amazon from the United Kingdom. On average, the foals brought over 17,000 euros.
