With the only combination scoring above 85%, Proud James (Jameson RS2 out of Cyraniek elite PROK by Johnson, bred by Y.M.M. van Maasacker from Cuijk) and Maxi Kira von Platen won the qualification for four-year-old horses on the first day of the Longines FEI/WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses. Ein Quantchen Glück (by Escamillo) finished in second place, followed by the Oldenburg Paparazzi (by Vitalis) in third.

"Proud James is a very nice horse with an excellent character, and his gaits are truly outstanding. He is very manageable, making him easy to guide," said a very satisfied Maxi Kira von Platen shortly after the prize-giving. When asked if the German rider was nervous before her performance, she could be brief: "It’s a great honor to ride at such a major international event, but Proud James is such a pleasure to work with that it's just enjoyable." The four-year-old KWPN top performer, bred by Yolien van Maasacker and owned by Helgstrand Dressage, received an 8.7 for his dressage ability and trot. For his canter, the Jameson RS2 offspring scored an 8.6, and his obedience was rewarded with an 8.4. "As far as I’m concerned, Proud James deserves a 9 in every aspect, so we still have some work to do in the final," Maxi Kira laughed.

Premium stallion Pride impresses
The premium stallion Pride (Secret out of Idol elite pref IBOP-dres D-OC by Apache, bred by E.T. ten Bosch from Driel), sold through the KWPN Select Sale, was purchased two years ago by German Sönke Rothenberger for €200,000. Today, the stallion, approved by multiple studbooks, made an excellent impression under the saddle of Bart Veeze, placing sixth. He was rewarded with a nice 8.4 for trot and obedience. The four-year-old stallion achieved an 8.3 for canter and dressage ability and a 7.9 for walk, resulting in a score of 82.6%.
