The first champion on the final day of the KWPN Van Santvoort Makelaars Cup is known. Under Berber Dijkman, the cautious Impressive VDL daughter Oilily MF sped to the title in the five-year-olds category.

Despite a selective base course, where time kept several contenders out of the jump-off, sixteen combinations managed to qualify for the deciding round. Ten of them went clear again. The top nine are now eligible to compete at the World Championships in Lanaken, with spots shifting to the next competitor in the rankings if any choose not to participate.

Frequent Clear Rounds
In the jump-off, Britt Schaper’s time with O-Cohinoor Ryal K seemed unbeatable for a long time. However, her competitors were highly motivated. Berber Dijkman secured victory with a very fast round on Frank Gerritsen’s Oilily MF (Impressive VDL out of Karma di Charme Bling ster IBOP-spr sport-spr by Dakar VDL, bred by Maud Flikkema). As a three-year-old, this ster mare scored 77.5 points in the IBOP. “Oilily is really a great collaborator. She often jumps clear rounds, is cautious, and has a superb attitude. That’s why I was hopeful for a good result in the jump-off,” says Berber, who rides part-time for Pim Mulder, brother-in-law of Oilily’s owner.

Twice Schaper
Britt Schaper qualified two horses for Lanaken. With O-Cohinoor Ryal K (Cohinoor VDL out of Barbarena O.A. keur IBOP-spr prest by Montreal, bred by J. Kazemier), the 17-year-old rider impressively finished second. With the Cornet Obolensky son Obelix JJ van de Woestenheide (out of Kwantchi by F-One USA, breeders Danny Schaper and Jos Meuleman), she finished double clear in eighth place.

KWPN Approved Stallion
Tani Joosten jumped to a commendable third place with the KWPN approved stallion One Macoemba (Arezzo VDL out of K.Macoemba by F-One USA, bred by B. Veeneman). "He is a very smart stallion. We have little jump-off experience, but he really impressed me with how well he handled it and how forward he still was on this third day," responded the rider, who is also co-owner of One Macoemba.
