Paris Olympics: Champ de Tailleur and Fedarman B Deliver in Olympic Final
Two Dutch horses were in the top 10 of the Olympic eventing final in Paris. The best Dutch horse was Champ de Tailleur, ridden by Janneke Boonzaaijer, delivered two clear rounds and finished ninth. Fedarman B, ridden by the American Boyd Martin, took the tenth place. Michael Jung won gold for the third time.
After the individual show jumping round, Janneke Boonzaaijer was in tears. She was determined to give everything with Champ de Tailleur (Quidam de Revel out of Vera stb-ext prest by Oberon du Moulin, breeders A.C. Hoogendoorn and G.W. ten Pas from Winterswijk). And with three faultless rounds, they succeeded.
Incredible
“This couldn’t have been better,” said an emotional Janneke Boonzaaijer afterwards. “He jumped so well, actually even better than the first round. It’s incredible how Champ de Tailleur performed here. That it worked out with Champ here is just amazing. It’s so cool when you have such a bond with a horse and can finish like this at the Olympic Games.”
Fedarman B Tenth
Fedarman B (Eurocommerce Washington out of Paulien B stb prest by Fedor, breeder the Brinkman family from Zutphen) finished tenth in the final with Boyd Martin. His rider had hoped for more beforehand, but is satisfied with the final result. “It’s an honor to ride here,” he said afterwards.
