Today, during the KWPN Championships in Ermelo, the semifinals of the Pavo Cup were held. In the class for four-year-old horses, a mare scored the highest with 87.8 points. Kjento daughter Patchouli Vera stood out with her completeness and added the victory in the Pavo Cup semifinals to her record.

Bettine van Harselaar and Jens Meijer judged a group of 57 four-year-old dressage horses today. "It was a large group with generally a lot of quality and a few outstanding horses," summarized Bettine. "We saw a strong leading group with a very complete winner, but also a large group of very useful, willing horses that were pleasant to ride. Overall, the horses were well presented and ridden nicely."

Harmonious Patchouli Vera
Kjento daughter Patchouli Vera (out of Kiara elite IBOP-dressage PROK by Bordeaux, breeders Florine de Voogd and Veerle Boogaard from ’s-Heerenhoek) achieved the highest IBOP score of the year last year. Under Annemijn Boogaard, the mare received a 9 for her walk today. "This is a very large-framed, elegant horse that showed a very harmonious performance. She has a lot of balance and ease in her movement, everything seems to come effortlessly to her, she is willing to work, and she stays well-focused on the rider. This mare possesses a lot of light-footedness and natural balance. She has an incredibly beautiful walk that remains very pure even when transitioning to a working walk, maintaining good rhythm and space."

Uphill Movement
The differences are small among the leading group of four-year-old horses. With 87.2 points, GLOCK’s Pablo Picasso (Taminiau out of Izzy ster D-OC by Florencio, breeders B.A.W. Mensinck and M.E. Ras from Vierakker) also moves towards the final on Saturday with good prospects under Rubén Mengual Reig. "This is a very appealing horse with a lot of presence and elasticity. He moves well uphill and shows a very well-supported picture. This horse trots with a lot of technique and also showed good transitions, maintaining rhythm and quickly picking up the rhythm of the new gait. Today, he could have been a bit more relaxed in the walk, but it is a horse with a lot of enthusiasm and potential."

Top Three
Heiko Klausing rode GLOCK’s Toto Jr son Tie Break (out of Royal Flanell by Grey Flanell, breeders Van Bockxgrave Horses BV and S.W.M. van der Voort from Hapert) to third place with 86.6 points. "This stallion was well presented and moves with a lot of leg technique, expression, ease, and light-footedness. In trot and canter, this horse remained uphill with a nice self-carriage and good hind leg use. The walk is rhythmic and spacious but could have shown a bit more stride today. Additionally, he could be a bit more pleasant in the contact for even higher points."

Bart Veeze in Fourth and Fifth
Bart Veeze completed the top five with two stallions. Roman Empire (Romanov Blue Hors out of Zolena elite EPTM-dressage sport-dressage PROK by Sir Sinclair, breeder Stal Zogland from Enschede) scored 86.2 points with a 9 for his notably good walk. This narrowly put him ahead of Secret son Pride (out of Idol elite pref IBOP-dressage D-OC by Apache, breeder E.T. ten Bosch from Driel). This stallion from the full sister of Jovian scored consistently for a total of 85.8 points.
