“In the main arena and at prime time, when everyone is there. It's fantastic that we can do this on Saturday afternoon,” says Nico Witte enthusiastically about the new auction by the KWPN Select Sale. During the World Breeding Dressage Championships on Saturday, September 7, prior to the finals of the five-year-olds, a very exclusive and high-quality collection of dressage horses and foals will be auctioned.

“The ambiance and the stage we offer are phenomenal. For the first time, this auction is being organized by the studbook. Previously, the EDS auction had several successful editions at the World Breeding Dressage Championships. Everyone is present at the World Breeding Dressage Championships: all the big names, top riders, investors, you name it. Besides live bidding, people can also follow the auction from home and bid online. We are very excited about it!” says Nico Witte, referring to the selection committee consisting of himself, Rom Vermunt, and Sjaak van der Lei.

“Really interesting”
“The foals and dressage horses must be truly exceptional. It’s all about top quality, and I can already say that we have found some very interesting and very good foals. And when I say it's interesting, I mean really interesting.” Besides the better dressage foals, the collection also includes three-year-old dressage horses and dressage horses aged four to a maximum of six years old under saddle. Foreign-registered horses are also eligible. “We have also contacted foreign studbooks so that they have the chance to include their best horses in this exclusive auction.”

“There is no better stage for the dressage horse”
The organization behind the World Breeding Dressage Championships auction is the KWPN Select Sale. “It's fantastic that the studbook is organizing this auction and that the World Breeding Dressage Championships provide us with this opportunity. We are now building on the customer base of the KWPN Select Sale. The KWPN Select Sale has proven itself for years, which gives both sellers and bidders a lot of confidence. It’s not another new auction starting from scratch but one that has already earned its stripes. There is no better stage for the dressage horse.” The KWPN is one of the co-organizers of the World Breeding Dressage Championships, and the KWPN Select Sale is one of the most prestigious auctions in the world. By combining these forces, a platform is created where the best dressage foals and young dressage horses are presented and sold to an international audience.

Registering foals and dressage horses
The selection committee is in full swing. “We are currently going through everything: all the Pavo Cups, the studbook inspections, the central inspections, and of course, we are making calls. I can't reveal anything yet, but we have already secured some exceptional foals and horses. Additionally, people can also let us know if they believe they have a top foal or dressage horse,” explains Nico Witte. All dressage horses must be fully vetted, both clinically and radiographically, including back and neck x-rays. The x-rays must be no older than three months. We also kindly request that videos of the foal’s movement and videos under saddle for dressage horses aged four years and older be submitted when registering.

Photo and video day on July 29
The photo and video day will be held on Monday, July 29, at the KWPN center in Ermelo. If you have any questions about the auction or would like to register a very interesting, well-moving, correct dressage foal/horse, please send the details of your foal/horse and a video to salespromotion@kwpn.nl, mentioning WK AUCTION, or call 0341-255 511.
