Preview: A jumping day filled with sport and breeding
What's happening on Thursday at the KWPN Stallion Show? With the continuation of the second viewing, the selection of the spring stallions, the KWPN Select Sale, and an entire afternoon and evening of showjumping, this day is a must for enthusiasts of showjumping and breeding.
The selection of spring horses continues on Thursday, February 1st. After two days of selection, we'll know which stallions are the premium stallions of 2024 and which ones will proceed to the performance test. A total of 90 spring stallions have been invited for the second viewing taking place on Wednesday and Thursday.
Presentation of approved stallions
After the second viewing, the approved spring stallions from 2023 will have a presentation under saddle on Friday. This presentation provides breeders with valuable information about the development of these young stallions. New this year is the tribute to the Broodmare of the Year; more information on that will be available soon.
Jumping clinic with bronze medal winner and Henk van den Broek
Henk van den Broek, along with his stable rider Renee de Weert, is coming to the KWPN Stallion Show for a show segment on 'From Talent to Championship.' In the last Young Jumping Horse World Championships, Renee de Weert won the bronze medal with Labantrix, bred by Henk van den Broek, a fantastic achievement. During this clinic, Henk van den Broek and Renee de Weert will demonstrate how they trained Labantrix and what they consider important in the education of young horses.
KWPN Select Sale returns to Den Bosch
After a three-year absence, the live auction of the KWPN Select Sale is back on the agenda. Nineteen selected spring stallions will enter the arena at 2:40 PM, seeking new owners. The internationally renowned auctioneer Frederik de Backer will present the stallions to you. Did you know that last year's silver medalist at the Dutch Show Jumping Championship, Island V G ridden by Kim Emmen, was sold as a three-year-old in the KWPN Select Sale? Similarly, VDL Groep Zidane, owned by Leopold van Asten, not only became the Dutch champion but also won the Rolex Grand Prix at The Dutch Masters – Indoor Brabant. You'll find the next generation of top jumping horses at the KWPN Select Sale.
An evening of Showjumping
Starting at 5:35 PM, the evening will be filled with showjumping. Of course, it includes the conclusion of the Blom Stallion Competition Jumping in classes 1.10m, 1.20m, and 1.30/1.35m. The absolute highlight of the showjumping competitions is the VHO Trophy Jumping. Approved KWPN stallions will compete in a course at a height of 1.40/1.50m. Last year, Hotspot and Mathijs van Asten secured the victory. Which stallion will follow Hotspot this year as the winner of the VHO Trophy?
Highway TN comes to Den Bosch
As the icing on the cake, Highway TN will be honored as the Horse of the Year 2023. The son of Eldorado van de Zeshoek will appear in the arena with his rider Willem Greve. In summary, Thursday at the KWPN Stallion Show is a must-attend for showjumping enthusiasts.
The KWPN Stallion Show is gearing up again. The world's largest stallion inspection will take place from January 31 to February 3 in Den Bosch. Ticket sales have already started, and KWPN members naturally receive a discount for the KWPN Stallion Show. It promises to be four fantastic days once again.
