Powerful Mac Toto charges to Pavo Cup victory
After a win in the semi-final and first round of the final, the Glock’s Toto Jr-son Mac Toto and Danielle Heijkoop had already proved to be the ones to beat in competition for six-year-old horses. Guest rider Daniel Bachmann Andersen awarded the powerful gelding a 9, and that meant Mac Toto sealed the deal in this year’s Pavo Cup.
Like the judges in the semi-final and final test, Daniel Bachmann Andersen expressed his enthusiasm about Mac Toto (Glock’s Toto Jr out of Turjazzila keur pref prest sport-dres by Jazz, bred by Gerrit van de Laar). “The quality of this horse is amazing”, he explained. “I really like this horse. He has a lot of power, and you can feel it sometimes in the contact, he gets a bit too strong. I don’t think of it as a negative sign though, I think that will become easier as time and his education progress.” Danielle is thrilled with the victory of the gelding that she owns together with Stal Brouwer and Joop van Uytert. “It has not fully dawned on me, but I have so much faith in this horse. He has a great mindset and always wants to give it his all in the ring. He is so level-headed, yet still has the right sensitivity when working.”
Top three
The runner-up and best stallion in this Pavo Cup was Hexagon’s Mr Magnum (Expression out of Grialita O elite IBOP-dres PROK D-OC by Valdez, bred by A.D. ter Haar) ridden by Thamar Zweistra. Daniel awarded the horse a 9.2. “A top horse, very sensitive but he quickly understood my aids”, summarized Daniel his findings. “I would love to take this one home with me!” KWPN stallion Mauro Turfhorst (Zonik out of Hidaylia ster by Negro, bred by Jan Greve of Haaksbergen) and Dinja van Liere were the third duo to claim a podium position. “A well-produced, easy-going horse.”
Best mare
Dinja van Liere also plaed fourth, this time aboard Morricone-son McLaren (out of Samatha by Sir Donnerhall I, bred by U. Toenjes). The best mare was Myeline (Dream Boy out of Adonnée de Jeu pref prest by Don Schufro, bred by B. Roerink of Beilen), presented by Veronique Roerink.
