World Cup Final Omaha: Crowd-pleaser Suppenkasper swings to PR
The American crowd was ecstatic tonight. All riders were rewarded with a big round of applause, even before their freestyle to music had begun. The audience went wild when their favourite entered the arena: the KWPN gelding Suppenkasper and his American rider Steffen Peters. In front of their home crowd, they broke their PR and placed fourth in the World Cup Final.
The 15-year-old Spielberg-offspring (out of Upanoeska keur prest IBOP-dres by Krack C, bred by F. van der Poel of Haps) showed to be at the top of his form and once again proved to belong on the world stage. He moved through his freestyle with abundant power. The upbeat music chosen by Steffen Peters only incited more enthusiasm in the audience. Two of the seven judges therefore awarded the music and the interpretation of the music a 10. The score totaled 83.921&, a new PR for this seasoned combination. And no end in sight yet, since the pair had a few minor errors.
“He performed his best test ever”, exclaims Steffen Peters. “During the last extended trot the crowd went wild and I enjoyed it so much, as did Mopsi”, as Steffen has nicknamed his horse.
The win in the World Cup Final went to the German Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and TSF Dalera BB. Thanks to a score of 90.482%, they grabbed the title for the second year in a row. Nanna Skodberg-Merrald and Blue Horse Zepter followed in second place with 87.146%. Isabell Werth and DSP Quantaz grabbed the third place on the podium. The jury rewarded their performance with 85.761%.
