KWPN Championships: fusion of sport and breeding
The KWPN Championships including the Pavo Cup are held at the National Equestrian Centre in Ermelo from the 3rduntil the 6th of August. The National harness day is organised in Lunteren on Saturday the 13th of August and the Blom Cup is ridden at the Tops International Arena in Valkenswaard from August 29 until 31.

Information inspection KWPN/PRE/Lusitano-crossbreeds
Wednesday August 3 we kick off with a first: the first information inspection of crossbreeds between KWPN horses and Iberic horses. A substantial number of foals and horses are extensively explained by Bert Rutten, chairman of the KWPN stallion selection committee and the internationally renowned dressage trainer Jean Bemelmans. You also get to enjoy a presentation of KWPN horses, Iberic horses and various older results of these crosses.
Inspection champions
Friday August 5 marks the thrilling denouement of the inspection season. The program this day includes, among others, the National Mare Championship, the National Foal Championship for the Virbac Foal Trophy for jumper, dressage and Gelder foals and award ceremonies of the Breeder of the Year for both the dressage and jumper breeding direction. New this year is that harness foals can make their appearance in the Open National Foal Championship. In short: enjoying the crème de la crème breeding has to offer in a wonderful ambiance. The National Mare and Foal Championship is the showcase of Dutch warmblood breeding and it’s a day no breeder should miss out on!
Pavo Cup
Thursday August 4 completely revolves around the talented four-, five- and six-year-old dressage horses vying for the hotly contested spots in the Pavo Cup finals in Ermelo. Saturday August 6 the country’s best young dressage horses are competing for the prestigious title of Pavo Cup champion. Curious which horses will make their appearance on August 4? National Harness Day
One week later, Saturday August 13, the Harness festivity of the year is held in Lunteren. Foremost, the National Harness Day is the final to the mare inspection season. Other highlights are the Stallion Competition Harness Horse, the mare classes in harness, the KWPN Championships harness horses ridden by juniors, the elections Harness Horse Breeder of the Year and Harness Horse of the Year and of course, the Final of the Nationals, in which the title Top Sport Mare and accompanying Greet Bergstra Trophy are up for grabs.
Blom Cup
Tops International Arena in Valkenswaard is home to the Blom Cup from Monday August 29 until Wednesday the 31st. The Blom Cup offers spectators a glance at the best four-, five- and six-year-old jumper horses of the Netherlands. Besides the championship for young jumper horses, the program includes several classes that are open to all KWPN horses. The full program is published as soon as possible. Registration of entry is possible as of the end of July. For the second time, the online Exclusive KWPN Jumping Foal Auction takes place during the Blom Cup.
