During the TV broadcasts from the KWPN Stallion Show Ermelo, attention was paid to the KWPN Gelder Horse of the Year 2020 Independent Little Me. Unfortunately his breeder could not be present in the studio to receive the corresponding Award..The stallion himself did, however, appear on a pre-recorded video together with his rider Dinja van Liere and one of his owners, Dirk-Jan van Eeuwen.

As a young stallion Independent Little Me, bred by M.H.J. Rothengatter from Nijensleek, already showed his qualities at the KWPN Stallion Show, where he was proclaimed Champion of the Gelder Stallions. Since that time things have gone fast for the talented chestnut. Under Dinja van Liere, he already has a long list of achievements to his name in dressage. Finalist in national young horse classes as a four and five-year-old and as a six-year-old, the powerhouse stallion was a finalist at the World Championships in Ermelo. In 2020, the son of the Danish stallion Uno Don Diego, won the Z2 Indoor National Championship and won silver at the Dutch Dressage Championships ZZ-Zwaar last summer. Dinja van Liere was already successful with another son of the ster preferent prestatie mare Wendela (by San Remo); Independent Little me and her former top horse Capri Sonne Jr (by Rhodium) share the same dam. Dinja: “’Indy’ has just as much presence as Capri!”

The stallion of the Van Eeuwen family from Nigtevecht received the most public votes and thus earned the title of KWPN Gelder Horse of the Year.
