In the KWPN Members Council meeting of this week, Andries van Daalen was nominated by the Confidential Advisory Committee as Chairman of the General Board. Berlinde Middelbrink was nominated as a new member of the General Board. After their nominations, both were appointed. They fill the vacancies that arise with the departure of chairman Siem Korver and treasurer Robert Muntel. The both of them said goodbye during this same Members Council meeting.

Andries van Daalen

During his professional life, Andries van Daalen (63) fulfilled several commercial roles at Vroom & Dreesmann and Wehkamp. As a member of the board at Wehkamp he played an important role in the transition from mail order company to online retailer, and at the head office of RFS Holland Holding he was, as a director, responsible for the build of the largest e-commerce warehouse in the world. After this project was completed successfully in 2016, Andries decided to end his active career. He is still active as chair of the board of the Zwolle Foundation Fund for Entrepreneurs and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Deltion College.

Besides his extensive managerial experience in business, Andries has made a contribution to horse sport and horse breeding. He is a speaker at many horse events and at KWPN we know him as regional Chair of Flevoland from 2013-2016 and from 2016 onwards of the Overijssel province. In this role he was also a member of the KWPN Members council. Because of this, he has a very good view of the association and the challenges ahead.  "The commitment to the KWPN stems from the fact that so many breeders, owners, enthusiasts and users have a passion for the KWPN horse and the KWPN is an association of and for its members. That appeals to me very much, and I look forward to working with my fellow board members on the future of the KWPN. "

Berlinde Middelbrink

Also Berlinde Middelbrink (37) was appointed to the KWPN General Board. The ambitious rider - as ponyrider she was reserve for the Dutch eventing team, and on her horse she rode up to Inter II level dressage - has an impressive career in financial consultancy. Berlinde started her career as Business Controller at Philips. Since 2008 she runs her own consultancy firm, and in that capacity she has gained a lot of experience as an interim professional in large projects. For example, she took care of the large-scale implementation of the SAP business automation system at FrieslandCampina and is currently setting up the business control function at the Creative Group (online shopping organization).
Berlinde has two children with her partner Jeroen Hendriks, who was part-owner of the KWPN-approved stallions Casco, Riant, Sir Sinclair and Unistar. Berlinde spends her spare-time with her family and the KWPN-horses that she has at home. Several of the talents she produced became Grand Prix-horses, for example the Johnson-son Bolero and the Florestan-son Urestan. She is still active as a rider and besides that she is a successful breeder with four KWPN-mares. Last summer, her mare Jendelin E (s.Charmeur), that she bought as a foal, was fourth at the National Mare Championships.“ KWPN-breeding is the beating heart of the horse industry in the Netherlands. I am very much looking forward to keep, together with the members, the office organization and of course the co-directors, the association healthy and vital and to expand its current position. "
