If there was one pair that made an impression during the Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen last Sunday, it was the Baltic VDL son Ilex, ridden by American McLain Ward. While many expected Ward to bring his experienced mare Callas to the Olympics, he chose Ilex, bred by Gijs Maris from Berg en Dal. “Ilex is like a teenager growing into an adult body, not yet realizing how strong he is,” Ward describes the eleven-year-old, large-framed gelding.

Today, an exciting collection of foals is being presented in the fourth edition of the KWPN Online Foal Auction. From August the 23rd to 26th, bids can be placed on this promising group of foals. No Nonsense D replaces New Orleans in the World Championship team for six-year-olds

Diederik van Silfhout has withdrawn New Orleans (s.Blue Hors Farrell) from the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses, which will take place from September 4 to 8 in Ermelo. No Nonsense D (s.Glamourdale) will take his place in the WC team for the six-year-olds with Emmelie Scholtens.

Glamourdale to the third place on FEI Ranking Dressage

Based on the results from December 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024, the new top 10 of the FEI Dressage World Ranking includes six KWPN horses, ranked from third to eighth place.

The auction season is in full swing, and today marks the presentation of the third collection from the KWPN Online Foal Auction. This collection includes seven showjumping and 28 dressage foals, open for bidding from Friday, August the 16th, until Monday, August the 19th. On the final day, the lots will begin closing from 8:00 PM onwards. Renowned sires, including Olympic stallions Ferro and Glock’s Toto Jr., as well as rising talents like Extreme U.S., One Million, and Kjento, are represented in this auction.

Johan Hamminga: “The emphasis is on quality and harmony”

Johan Hamminga, Alex van Silfhout, and Janine van Twist selected the Dutch team for the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. From September 4th to 8th, six five-, six-, and seven-year-old horses in each age category will compete in Ermelo. Johan Hamminga has been a longstanding selection committee member and will, of course, be present at the World Championships.

Paris Olympics: Bronze for Maikel van der Vleuten; Leone Jei Finishes Tenth

In a jump-off where Maikel van der Vleuten was already assured of a medal, the Dutch rider secured the bronze. The best KWPN result was for Leone Jei, the son of Baltic VDL, who finished tenth with Martin Fuchs after a jumping fault.

Today, the new collection for the KWPN Online Foal Auction has been presented. From August the 9th to 12th, bidding will be open for 16 show jumping and 16 dressage foals. Remarkable sires are represented, this collection includes offspring of for example Chacco-Blue, Diamant de Semilly, Hardrock Z, Kjento, Extreme U.S., and Kyton. The foals also inherit strong sport genes from their dams.

Paris Olympics: Glamourdale Wins Bronze; Hermès Just Misses the Podium

Prior to the championship, it was expected that several combinations would be contenders for medals. The gold once again went to Dalera and Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, the silver to Isabell Werth and Wendy de Fontaine. The KWPN stallion Glamourdale secured a beautiful bronze medal, followed by the KWPN stallion Hermès, who was just half a percent short of a podium finish.

Paris Olympics: Glamourdale, Fame, and Jägerbomb secure bronze for Britain

The top of the team competition was incredibly close at the upper end of the standings. The Danish team, featuring offspring of Vitalis and Blue Hors Zack, was very close to winning gold. The German team narrowly stayed ahead and claimed the gold team medal. Glamourdale, Fame, and Jägerbomb secured team bronze for Great Britain. The Netherlands finished fourth in the medal race.

Four-in-Hand Driver Chester Weber to Attend National Harness Horse Day

The organizers of the National Harness Horse Day have succeeded in bringing one of the most successful drivers in international four-in-hand driving to Lunteren: the American Chester Weber. He has achieved his greatest successes with Dutch harness horses, winning multiple World Championship team medals and three individual silver medals at the World Championships.

Paris Olympics: Team Silver for Ilex; I.Amelusina R 51 Takes Team Bronze

The Dutch team faced a tense moment as they narrowly missed out on the team bronze medal. Despite a flawless round from Kim Emmen and Imagine, the Dutch team missed the bronze by approximately half a second. Representing the United States, Ilex delivered a beautiful clear round, securing the son of Baltic VDL a bronze medal. Meanwhile, competing under the French flag, I.Amelusina R 51 contributed to winning team bronze. The British team took home the gold.
