Dettori daughter Nice Touch W dances to bronze in the 6-year-old class

The 6-year-old horses wrapped up the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Ermelo, where Quinn G (by Quaterhit) retained her world title, this time with British rider Fiona Bigwood in the saddle, riding on Denmark's quota. The best KWPN horse was the very light-footed and elegant Nice Touch W (by Dettori), who danced to bronze under Swiss rider Charlotta Rogerson (also on Switzerland's quota). “She finds everything fun and easy,” said the rider about the mare. Bart Veeze and Nero (by Ferguson) were once again the best combination on the Dutch quota, finishing this year with a beautiful 6th place.

What a fantastic finale today at the World Championship for Four-in-Hand Driving in Szilvásvárad, Hungary. Once again, high temperatures and a challenging cones course marked the day. Boyd Exell achieved what he came for: securing his seventh world title. However, he could feel the pressure from Chester Weber and Bram Chardon right behind him.

WC Young Dressage Horses: bronze for Glock’s Massimo

He already finished in front during the first qualification and proved unbeatable during the final: Life Time FRH with Germany's Charlott-Maria Schürmann. Livaldon, a son of Vivaldi, is his sire, and Life Time FRH is a look-alike of his grandsire. The best KWPN horse, finishing in third place today, was Glock's Massimo with Hans Peter Minderhoud in the saddle.

Mighty Red Viper world champion under Bart Veeze

With great power and conviction, Red Viper (by Romanov) and Bart Veeze claimed the World Championship title among the 5-year-olds. The dark chestnut, bred from the double World Championship young horse mare Zolena, scored a remarkable 93.80%, easily distancing itself from the competition. Ohio (by Kaiman) and One Million (by Vivaldi) also finished in the top 10. Glamourdale’s son, Glamdale WP NRW, took second place for Germany.

World Championship Four-in-Hand Driving: Anna Sandmann in the lead with four KWPN horses

German Anna Sandmann leads after the first day of the World Championship for Four-in-Hand Driving in Szilvásvárad, Hungary, with her excellently driven dressage test, which earned a score of 40.99. All five judges placed her in first place. The best Dutch competitor of the day was Koos de Ronde, who finished in fourth place with a score of 51.91.

Obsession Taonga wins the small final for 5-year-olds

With 89.60%, the KWPN stallion Obsession Taonga, ridden by Lara van Nek, won the small final for 5-year-olds this evening. The judges praised the stallion for his appearance, expressive gaits, and recognized real talent for the future. Under Jessica Lynn Thomas, Oz (by Expression) narrowly missed qualifying for the big final, finishing in fourth place.

Dettori's daughter Nice Touch W secures 3rd place at the World Championships for 6-year-olds

Swiss rider Charlotta Rogerson rode the striking elite sport-dressage PROK mare Nice Touch W (by Dettori) to a very impressive third place with 88.20% in the World Championship qualification for 6-year-olds, representing Switzerland. Just like last year, Nero (by Ferguson) under Bart Veeze was the best of his year class among the representatives for the Netherlands. With a score of 86.40%, they achieved an admirable sixth place.

With 114 Dutch horses, the WC Four-in-Hand Driving are set to be exciting

The World Championships for Four-in-Hand Driving in Szilvásvárad, Hungary, kick off tomorrow with the veterinary inspection. The dressage tests will be held over Thursday and Friday. The marathon will take place on Saturday, followed by the final driving phase on Sunday. From now until September 8, the best four-in-hand teams from fourteen countries around the world will compete for medals. In eleven teams from participating countries, one or more KWPN horses will pull the carriage. In total, 114 Dutch horses will be seen at the championship.

Meet the champions at the WC for Young Dressage Horses

​The Dressage World Breeding Championship for Young Horses is the ultimate chance for dressage enthusiasts to meet the future stars. Glamourdale is a prime example of a successful WC horse that later fully lived up to the expectations. The Lord Leatherdale-son won gold as a seven-year-old, was crowned world champion in the Grand Prix in 2022 and won bronze at the Olympic Games this summer.

Johan Hamminga: “The emphasis is on quality and harmony”

Johan Hamminga, Alex van Silfhout, and Janine van Twist selected the Dutch team for the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. From September 4th to 8th, six five-, six-, and seven-year-old horses in each age category will compete in Ermelo. Johan Hamminga has been a longstanding selection committee member and will, of course, be present at the World Championships.
