The DNA profile of the horse itself is included here.
The breeding values are presented in relation to the dressage breeding direction.
An average KWPN dressage horse has a dressage breeding value between 80 and 120.

Lineage:
Merlot VDL is a son of the successful Grand Prix-stallion Bordeaux. Bordeaux is increasingly proving himself in breeding and Merlot VDL is his eighth son to be approved at KWPN. At the 2020 KWPN Stallion Show, Merlot VDL was honoured as a premium stallion.
The dam of Merlot VDL is the preliminary keur mare Hyacinth-Vrouwe, she descends from the multiple world champion Florencio. Merlot VDL is her first offspring. 
The preferent granddam Dolce Vita Vrouwe descends from the top producer Vivaldi is also the dam of the KWPN-stallion Incognito (s.Davino V.O.D.). The damline continues with the preferent ster mare Weidevrouwe (s.Houston), she is the dam of the Z-level horse Joyrider (s.Negro) as well as the granddam of a number of sport horses, including the ZZ-Licht horse High Score (s.Charmeur). Donnerhall-daughter Mimosavrouwe is known as the dam of the international Grand Prix-horse Glock’s Undercover, that obtained many wins with Edward Gal. 

Performance test report:
Merlot VDL is an honest and sympathetic stallion with a very good attitude. The stallion has great willingness to work and great trainability. The walk is pure, good in scope and body-use. In trot, the stallion has more than sufficient push, great light-footedness, good scope, lots of freedom of the shoulder and an actively engaging hind leg that shows good carriage. The canter is uphill, with a good leg technique and has good to very good scope. Merlot VDL moves with lots of elasticity, lots of posture and a good balance. As a dressage horse, Merlot VDL has a lot to a great deal of talent, and he gives his rider a very good feeling. 

Stable behaviour:
Honest, reliable stallion, easy to handle and calm in the stable. 

Breeding & pairing recommendation:
Merlot VDL can improve the elasticity and freedom of the shoulder, he can furthermore add elegance and light-footedness to dressage breeding.
