Conformation:
Kobalt VDL is a well-developed, riding type stallion with a good rectangular model and an appealing head. The neck is sufficient in length with a slightly heavy head-neck connection. The neck is somewhat vertical, more than sufficient in length and more than sufficient in muscling. The shoulder is good in length and a little straight in position. The withers are well developed and more than sufficient in length. The back is more than sufficient in length and well-muscled. The loins are well connected and well-muscled. The croup has a good position, length and muscling. The hamstring has good length. When viewed from the side, the foreleg is slightly under the body and correctly positioned when viewed from the front. The hindleg is correctly positioned and somewhat behind the mass. The pasterns are good in length and slightly weak. The foundation is well developed and of good quality. The hooves are well developed, good in shape, good in quality with correctly developed heels.

Descendant:
Kobalt VDL is the first approved son of the KWPN-recognized famous Modesto. Under the French Jean Marc Nicolas, he was of permanent value for the French country team for many years and was part of the victories in Rotterdam, Rome, Lisbon, Lyon and Lummen, where he won the Big Prices and participated in the World Cup in Aachen. His sire Grandeur (by Gralsritter) also jumped Grand Prix. Like his son Kobalt VDL, Modesto comes from the Sinaa line: Kobalt VDL's great-granddam is the Lucky Boy xx daughter Dersinaa, the Keur, preferent, performance mare who is also the dam of Modesto. Kobalt VDL's dam is the star mare Abersinaa, a daughter of the showjumper sire Calido I. She is a half-sister of Emmerton (by Emilion) who is successful at the highest level under Jur Vrieling. Their dam is the Keur preferent Lersinaa (by Nimmerdor) who is also the grandmother of the international 1.40m horses Canselara A (by Cardento) and Fortaleza (by Sydney), as well as various 1.30m horses. Lersinaa's dam Dersinaa, the above-mentioned Keur, preferent, performance mare of the English thoroughbred Lucky Boy xx, produced a 1.30m horse from Nimmerdor besides Modesto, and is also the granddam of international 1.30m to 1.40m show jumpers of Indorado, Indoctro and Cardento. She is also the grandmother of the KWPN stallion Jenssen VDL (by Harley VDL), approved with high marks last year.

Performance report:
Kobalt VDL is an honest, reliable and enthusiastic stallion with a good attitude. The stallion has a lot of willingness to work and is easy to work with. The walk is more than sufficient to good in space. The trot has more than sufficient to good space. The stallion has a good posture and a good balance in movement. The canter is powerful, active with a lot of flexibility and good to very good space. Kobalt VDL jumps well with an upwards body direction with good to very good reflexes, good body use and good foreleg technique where the jump is completed well in the hindlegs. Kobalt VDL seems careful and shows much to very much athletic ability. Kobalt VDL has much to very much talent for jumping and gives his rider a good feeling.

Honest and reliable stallion, easy in handling and calm in the stable.

Abersinaa is a well-developed appealing mare that is sufficiently rectangular with a downward body direction.
The head is expressive with a nice large eye.
The neck is sufficient in length with a slightly heavy head-neck connection.

The withers are sufficiently developed and of sufficient length.
The shoulder has good length and a more than sufficient position.
The back has more than sufficient length and sufficient muscling.

Offspring report

Kobalt VDL (Modesto x Calido I x Nimmerdor)
Kobalt VDL showed a collection of more than sufficiently developed appealing foals that are more than sufficient to well in the rectangular model. The heads are expressive. The foals have an appealing forehand with sometimes a slightly vertically set neck, a strong back and loins with a croup which is sometimes slightly sloping but has enough length. The foreleg is correctly positioned. The hindleg is sickled several times. The foals walk correctly with good space. The foals scored at home a spacious, powerful, carried trot and have a lot of flexibility. The canter is powerful, has good space and balance and shows a lot of flexibility. In the foals selected by the owners, the neck was moved too vertically, possibly due to tension, at the expense of flexibility and use of the back.
