Zethar is an honest and reliable stallion. The stallion shows a lot of willingness to work and is well- trainable.
Dressage
The walk is sound, with good scope and elasticity. The trot has good scope. The hind legs could be placed well the mass a little more resolutely. The canter is active, with good carriage, balance and elasticity. As a Gelder horse, Zethar has a lot of talent for dressage and gives his rider a good feeling.
Jumping
Zethar jumps with sufficient impulsion, The front leg is folded well under the body. The stallion shows sufficient bascule. The hindquarters are opened sufficiently. Zethar appears cautious and shows more than sufficient power. As a Gelder horse, Zethar has more than sufficient talent for jumping and gives his rider a more than sufficient feeling.
Harness
In harness, Zethar shows more than sufficient willingness to work. He has a balanced and reliable character with more than sufficient willingness to move. The walk is sound, active and with good scope. The trot has good scope and sufficient power. The canter has good scope and more than sufficient power. In motion, the stallion turns more than sufficiently, but should move more uphill and show more front. The overall piocture as a harness horse is more than sufficient.

Breeding Recommendation 2007
Zethar can improve Gelder horse breeding with allround quality, size and his walk and canter, and should preferably be used with mares that have a sufficiently active hind leg and do not have a sloped top line.

In 2007, the Gelder stallion Zethar bred 17 mares, resulting in 12 KWPN registered foals in 2008. The dams of these foals varied greatly in quality and genetic background. To better assess Zethar’s contribution to Gelder horse breeding, the stallion selection committee decided to evaluate a new collection of Zethar foals in 2009 which are primarily out of Gelder-registered dams.In 2008, Zethar bred 25 mares, 14 of which were from the Gelder breeding direction. Of these, 9 foals were inspected, the majority of which were out of Gelder-registered dams. The stallion selection committee expressed their rationale for placing Zethar on the watch list:
“Given the high percentage of Koss blood in the current Gelder horse population and the insufficient movement demonstrated by the two collections inspected, the Gelder horse stallion selection committee believes that Zethar will not make a sufficient contribution to Gelder horse breeding.”
