Type 2002 (March 14 - May 22, 2002)Son de Niro is a well developed, long-legged, riding type stallion that stands in good rectangular model. The wither and shoulder are well developed. The back is a little tight. The croup has more than sufficient length. The hamstring should be a little longer. The base has more than sufficient quality. The hooves are sufficiently developed.
Pedigree information
In Germany the Donnerhall son De Niro, who was very convincing with his 145.41 points for dressage at his performance test, is known as a strong movement sire. This Son de Niro gets additional movement qualities from Balzflug, Vincent and Pretendent. Vincent was Grand Prix-dressage. His sire Pretendent made a name for himself as a sire of dressage horses.
Ledensie completed an excellent performance test, produced 1 colt and 1 filly. Great grandmother Wensie did Z-level dressage herself and produced the national dressage horses Murdoc (s Balzflug) en Elmar (s Zaïre). She is grandmother to Mywensie (Z-level jumper, s Goodtimes).
Performance
Son de Niro is an honest, reliable stallion. He has more than sufficient willingness to work and he works more than sufficiently. During a large part of the test he was ridden with a tongue depressor. The walk is big and pure. Son de Niro has much scope at the trot. He trots with much impulsion and much tact, but the hindleg is a little slow. Son de Niro shows much scope in the canter. He canters with much impulsion, more than sufficient suppleness and allows himself to close more than sufficiently. Son de Niro has more than sufficient to much talent for dressage and gives his rider a good feeling.
Son de Niro has an insufficient take-off for jumping. He jumps with moderate leg- and body technique. He seems sufficiently careful and shows a moderate amount of scope. Son de Niro has moderate talent for jumping and gives his rider a moderate feeling.
Stall and handling behavior are normal.

Offspring 2003 (foals)Son de Niro showed a uniform collection of well developed, long legged foals that stand in good rectangular model and that are refined.
The head is pretty and expressive. The poll is long but the throatlatch should be lighter. The neck has more than sufficient length and shape. The wither is long and varies in development. The shoulder has good length and position. The shape of the back is good. The loins are strongly connected and have a tendency to be tight. The croup has more than sufficient length, shape and muscling. The hamstring is more than sufficient in length. The foreleg is long and the stance is correct. The stance of the hindleg is correct. The base has sufficient to more than sufficient development and good quality.
The walk is big, pure and has good suppleness. The foals have good self carriage in the trot and show good use of the foreleg and sufficient to more than sufficient impulsion. The hindleg should follow through more and the foals should be able to do changes a little better. The canter has more than sufficient scope, impulsion and self carriage.
All 12 registered foals (of which 10 were picked) were shown.
The quality of the mares varied.
