Conformation:

Maximus VDL is a royal developed stallion who is correctly standing within the rectangular model. The stallion has a long head. The stallion has a heavy head-neck connection. The neck is positioned vertically, good in length, and well-muscled. The shoulder is good in length and well-positioned. The whither is well-developed and more than sufficient in length. The back is good in length and is well-muscled. The loins are well-muscled and well-connected. The croup is well-positioned, more than sufficient in length, and well-muscled. The pant muscle is good in length. The foreleg is correct. The hindleg is sickle-shaped. The pasterns are more than sufficient in length and correct. The foundation is well-developed and of good quality. The hooves are widely-shaped and good in quality. The heels are low.

Pedigree:

In the stallion Maximus VDL a special combination has been brought together: his sire, Zirocco Blue VDL, and his grandsire at the dam’s side, Verdi, this combination was both part of the Dutch jumping team in 2015 when they won a gold medal at the European Championships in Aachen. For years, these stallions were very important for the Dutch jumping sport together with their riders Jur Vrieling and Maikel van der Vleuten, and won loads of medals. Also, both stallions received the title ‘’preferent’’. Maximus VDL has the elite IBOP-spr sport-spr dam Daloma as his dam. She was performing at the 1.30m level and is the daughter of the elite prestatie sport dam, Paloma (s.Ferro). Who was successful at the highest level together with Eric van der Vleuten. She brought a 1.40m and 1.30m horse by Campbell VDL and Ahorn. Her dam, Sjaloma keur preferent prestatie (s.Lucky Boy xx) is known as the dam of the KWPN stallion Furore (s.Ahorn), who was jumping at the international level, and of the Grand Prix horse Jaguar (s.Nimmerdor), from Richard Fellers. The list of sporthorses where she is the (great) granddam from is endless. For example, the Grand Prix horses Eminent/Zippo (s.Zeus), from Stein Endresen and Jupiter (s.Wellington), from Ulrich Kirchhof, and the KWPN stallion Hattrick (s.Ahorn) and Whistler (s.Holland), who was jumping at the Grand Prix level together with Candice King, are part of this list.

Research report:

Maximus VDL is an honest, loyal and straightforward stallion with a more than sufficient attitude. The stallion shows much willingness to work and is easy to train. The walk is good in length with enough shoulder freedom. The trot is more than sufficient in length and suppleness. The canter is well-balanced and good in length. While moving, the stallion has more than sufficient self-carriage and balance. Maximus VDL is jumping with good reflexes. The stallion jumps with a good leg technique and good use of the body and is finishing the jump nicely. Maximus VDL seems to be careful and shows a lot of scope. As a jumping horse, maximus VDL shows a lot of talent and gives his rider a good feeling.
