Performance test report
Type 2001 (September 25 through November 14)Ranno is a more than sufficiently developed, correct, harness type stallion that stands in good rectangular model. The neck has good length and good position. The stallion has a strong topline. The foreleg should be a little longer.
Pedigree information
The dark brown Ranno is the third son out of Manno"s first foal crop that will be tested in Ermelo. As a two-year old he was in 3rd place at National harness Horse Day. He did not make it any further than the second ring at his first stallion show presentation. However, he was much more convincing in harness, showing much tact and balance. Ranno should have longer lines and his short foreleg is noticeable.
The dam of Ranno, the keur mare Mabella (Waterman out of Isabella Keur by Batello) has produced two foals, 1 colt and 1 filly. She was brought out as a competition horse and won a total of NLG 230. Through great grandmother Astrid-H (s Natuur) we come to Ingrid-H Pref. Rinus Buynsters brought this Uron daughter out in competition. Uron was best known as the sire of the legendary Edeling, also belonging to Buynsters. We also see Ingrid in the pedigree of the keur mare Kroonjuweel (s Farao) with NLG 1.145 in winnings, and Grace Kelly (s Rex) with winnings of NLG 395.
Performance
Ranno is an honest, reliable stallion that tenses quickly. He is very willing to work and lets himself be driven well. The walk is powerful and has good scope. The stallion has much self carriage in front of the show cart. He uses the neck well, comes back in the front and rises well in the forehand. Ranno has a great deal of action in the foreleg and moves the leg out more than sufficiently to well. The use of the hindleg is very good. The stallion brings the hindleg underneath the body well and has very much bend and impulsion. The stallion has more than sufficient to much suspension. He has much enthusiasm. Ranno has much to very much talent for harness work and gives his driver a very good feeling.
Stall and handling behavior are normal.

Offspring report
Offspring 2003 (foals)Ranno showed a uniform collection of sufficiently to more than sufficiently developed, sufficient tuig type foals that stand in sufficient rectangular model but generally lack refinement.
The shape of the head varies, often the nose was roman. The poll has good shape and length. The neck has good length and shape and sufficiently good position. The wither has good length and development. The shoulder has sufficient length and position. The back is well formed and muscled. The loins are shaped and muscled well. The croup generally is straight and should be longer. The hamstring is more than sufficient in length. The foreleg generally has good stance and sufficient length. The pastern is frequently straight. The shape of the hoof is normal. The hindleg is generally sickle hocked. The base is sufficiently developed and more than sufficient in quality. The hooves are shaped well.
The walk has sufficient scope but lacks power and bend from the hindleg. The trot has sufficient scope and suspension. The action of the foreleg ranges from flat to more than sufficient action. The use of the hindleg is moderate, it lacks power and should be brought underneath further. The foals do show sufficient rise in the front during movement but they should come back more.
There were 10 picked foals and 3 that were selected by the owner. The selected foals did have refinement and were more convincing in regards to self carriage and movement.
The quality of the mares in general was moderate.
Shown: 13 foals out of 38 mares bred in 2002.
Watchlist 2003
Ranno was put on the watchlist on the basis of his offspring evaluation (foals).
Ranno (s Manno) entered the studbook with good scores; the total impression of a harness horse was 8.5. He also showed that he had talent during competition. In 2002 he placed high in singles competition and he was the four-year old champion.
After the foal evaluation the committee concluded that he was not able to pass on his own strong characteristics to the next generation. The mares that he bred did not form a strong group but Ranno also did make use of this chance to improve upon those mares. The committee also took into account that two new Manno sons were accepted into the studbook this year and that in the future more Manno offspring are to be expected.
