Performance test report
Calvaro Z is a large bay stallion, measuring ± 1.76m / 17.1 hands. His sire is Caletto I (s.Cor de la Bryère), who helped win the team bronze medal under Michael Ruping at the 1993 European Championships in Hickstead.
Calvaro Z's dam Rixa is by the influential stallion Capitol I, out of the Fantus (s.Farnese) daughter Felicitas. Calvaro Z's origins trace back to a Hanoverian dam-line. His great-granddam Zermola is by Sesam I (s.Senator), followed by daughters by Goldfisch II and Assing I.
Calvaro Z was trained by Michael Ruping, who successfully competed the stallion in international show jumping. Under Jos Lansink, Calvaro Z's major international achievements include winning the 1997 Dutch Championship, securing the team silver at the 1997 European Championships in Mannheim, capturing the 1997 Nations Cup in Calgary, and competing in the 1999 World Cup Final in Göteborg. After a brief stint under Michael Whitaker, John Whitaker took over the reins of Calvaro Z. This combination also proved very successful, with achievements including capturing the Nations Cup at Aachen and the Grand Prix of Hickstead in 2000 and competing in the Olympics at Sydney.
Calvaro Z is also a proven sire of successful show jumpers. For example, his daughter Katchina Mail (ds.Laudanum xx) boasts achievements including winning the 2008 Grand Prix of Geesteren under Patrice Delaveau; and Calvaro Z's son Night Train (ds.Papillon Rouge) won the Grand Prix of Tampa, placed second in the Nations Cup in Wellington, and competed in the World Cup Final in Las Vegas under Darragh Kerins. In addition, Italy's Valentina Isoardi recently won the individual bronze medal in the Junior division on the Calvaro Z daughter Lumiere d’Aix (ds.Quito de Baussy). Of the 15 Calvaro Z offspring (age four and older) registered with the KWPN as foals, two are now competing in grand prix show jumping: Ralvesther (ds.Zevenster) and Santiago (ds.Nimmerdor).
Calvaro Z's jumping index is 149 with 64% reliability. His other breeding values are as follows: conformation: 105 (48%), movement: 103 (48%), and free-jumping 112 (49%). Calvaro Z meets KWPN radiographic and respiratory requirements.
