16 jumper and 11 dressage stallions submitted
Today, the performance test started for 27 riding stallions, bringing the total - including the Gelder stallion - to 28.
The full stallion selection committees were present in Ermelo. The dressage stallions were presented for the third time under their own riders, while it was the second presentation for the showjumping stallions.
Eleven dressage stallions
Of the dressage stallions, eleven out of fourteen presented were given the green light to start the performance test. Rockstar Millionaire, son of D’Avie, and Rohan, son of Jameson RS2, were referred to the spring test, which seems to better match their development. "Additionally, the Las Vegas son Ramiera-de J was not completely sound during the warm-up, so we could not evaluate him. Based on the 2023/2024 stallion selection decision still applicable to him, he may be resubmitted within a week, and the performance test for him will be extended by the number of days he started late. This decision has now been adjusted for the new group of stallions. This stallion did receive a veterinary assessment today and can still join,” says senior inspector Floor Dröge on behalf of the stallion selection committee. “After three presentations, the committee is already gaining a clear picture of the other stallions. They were also viewed again in the lane today, and further discussions took place with the owners." In addition to nine approved three-year-old stallions, the Secret son Secret USB received the green light to participate on a voluntary basis. Moreover, World Champion Red Viper (s.Romanov) was successfully submitted.
Trainability
Nine three- and four-year-old jumper stallions have started the performance test, along with two voluntarily participating stallions, Ramazzotti (s.Check In) and Check Out Blue (s.Chacco-Blue). "All sixteen proposed stallions have taken a stall today. During the first saddle presentation, the committee advised allowing some of the stallions more time, so the upcoming spring test may be better suited to their development. The stallions presented today all appear trainable enough to start the test, and all were cleared medically," says senior inspector Henk Dirksen on behalf of the committee. “There will be an initial training and evaluation this Friday, and on the following Monday, the committee will review the stallions again. Since the test is relatively short, we are beginning with jumping this week.”
The final presentation of this fall’s test will take place on Saturday, November 30.

Genetically valuable mares in the KWPN Online Broodmare Auction
From the 22 nd to 25 th of November, bids can be placed on nineteen valuable broodmares in the KWPN Online Broodmare Auction. This collection offers a wealth of performance genes, giving breeders an excellent opportunity to make a strong start in breeding. The auction features three showjumping and 16 dressage bred mares, sired by stallions such as I’m Special de Muze, Kjento, Johnson, Skovens Rafael, Glock’s Toto Jr., and Totilas, and they’re all in foal.
The KWPN Auctions platform has developed into an international showcase where breeders and buyers regularly come together. KWPN horses attract worldwide interest, and the KWPN Online Broodmare Auction presents mares with valuable genetic potential, including offspring of national mare champions and siblings to KWPN approved stallions.
Performance families
Most of these mares have already proven themselves at the mare inspections, performance tests, or sport, and they come from established performance damlines. For example, the six-year-old Nidaylia van de Watermolen (s.Daily Diamond) is a half-sister to the KWPN approved stallion Mauro Turfhorst, who was placed fourth at this year’s World Championships for seven-year-olds with Dinja van Liere. The Ferdeaux mare Melandri VDP features three consecutive mares in her pedigree that have performed well in sport, including her dam Utah V, who competed in the Big Tour classes. Another highlight is Lilia, a daughter of Skovens Rafael and half-sister to the KWPN approved international Small Tour stallion Zambuka (s.Scandic). The McLaren mare Rosa is a half-sister to the international Small Tour horse Peanut (s.Painted Black) and has the same granddam as successful horses like Vontango B, Don Tango, Christon-B, and Antango du Feuillard. For every showjumping orientated breeder, a valuable addition is the Indoctro mare Garetto. She jumped to an impressive score of 85/85 at the mare inspection, including 90 points for scope, and her oldest offspring Laretto is already competing at international 1.55m level with Willem Greve.
More information
The collection can be viewed from today at www.kwpn.auction . Online bidding for these horses starts on Friday the 22 nd of November. Interested parties must register as bidders beforehand, and the auction closes on Monday the 25 th of November, starting at 8:00 PM. WC horses present themselves at KWPN Stallion Show
The first show of the KWPN Stallion Show 2025 is announced! On Friday evening, January 31, six seven-year-old World Championship horses will enter the ring for a spectacular show. Led by GLOCK's Massimo, the bronze medal winner, the audience at the Brabanthallen will witness horses that are hopefully the medalists of the future.
On this Friday evening, traditionally dedicated to dressage highlights, these six World Championship horses will showcase their skills in pairs. Naturally, Hans Peter Minderhoud and his bronze medalist, GLOCK's Massimo (GLOCK’s Toto Jr. out of Her Pleasure, star PROK by Bretton Woods, breeder M. van Cortenberghe from Reeuwijk), will demonstrate their potential for the big leagues. Olympic rider Dinja van Liere placed fourth with the KWPN stallion Mauro Turfhorst (Zonik out of Hidaylia, star by Negro, breeder J.W. Greve from Haaksbergen). Close behind this pair was Thamar Zweistra with Hexagons Mr. Magnum (Expression out of Grialita O, elite pref IBOP-dressage PROK D-OC by Valdez, breeder A.D. ter Haar from Rijssen). How have these horses developed in recent months, and what are their prospects for international competition?
Medalists of tomorrow
Danielle Heijkoop and Mac Toto USB (GLOCK's Toto Jr. out of Turjazzila, keur pres prest sport-dressage by Jazz, breeder G. van de Laar from Vorstenbosch) have already won the Pavo Cup for six-year-olds and are now progressing strongly in the Small Tour. Lisa Wernitznig, a stable rider for the highly successful Isabell Werth, guided Majestic Taonga (GLOCK’s Toto Jr. out of Jamsession Taonga, elite pref IBOP-dressage sport-dressage PROK by Jazz, breeder Stal 104 BV from Wijdewormer) to second place in the small final, and the duo later placed ninth in the final. Could this be a future horse for her employer, Isabell Werth?
Totilas bloodlines
In addition to the three offspring of GLOCK's Toto Jr., Mauricio is the fourth World Championship horse with Totilas bloodlines. This son of Total U.S. (out of Balalei KA, elite pref prest IBOP-dressage PROK by Florencio, breeder H.G. Broekhuizen from Werkhoven) made his debut at the World Championships with rider Michael Ruijgrok.

Championships inspection returns to KWPN Stallion Show
The championship inspection returns during the KWPN Stallion Show. From January 29 to February 1, the audience can once again feel the tension that traditionally accompanies the championship inspection. The awarding of premium stallions will remain in place.
"With the championship inspection, we want to add more excitement to the program," explains Ralph van Venrooij, head of the Breeding department. "In 2020, we bid farewell to the championship inspection, and the premium stallions were no longer ranked. With the premium stallions, we aim to showcase the best stallions of the year and indicate the direction in which breeding should evolve."
Emotion
“Premium stallions will continue to be recognized, but in addition, we want to crown a champion stallion. Of course, the championship inspection is only a momentary snapshot, but we know the public always engages with great emotion during such a highlight of the stallion inspection. We are eager to bring this back, so that the stallion selection becomes even more captivating to follow and concludes with a spectacular finale.”
Champions and reserve champions
The championship inspection will return across all four breeding categories. In the stallion selections for jumper and dressage horses, both a champion and a reserve champion will be chosen. In the smaller breeding categories for Gelderlander and harness horse stallions, only a champion stallion will be appointed.

Royal King submitted for performance test
The King Karim son, Royal King, has taken up residence at the KWPN center. He is the only Gelderlander stallion participating in the performance test. The riding horse stallions are expected next week.
This morning, the three-year-old Gelderlander stallion Royal King (King Karim out of the Grand Prix dressage mare Zeronica, elite sport-dressage PROK by Talos) from breeder A.V. Noorman from Zuidwolde was presented under his own rider and subsequently underwent a veterinary inspection. “Royal King made a few jumps under saddle and showcased himself in dressage. After that, he was vetted, and once everything was approved, he moved in,” says inspector Luuk Smetsers on behalf of the stallion selection committee. Exactly one week from now, on November 11, the dressage and jumper stallions are expected for the performance test. “Each time, Royal King will be assessed immediately after the dressage horses. The dates for the interim assessments are November 12, 19, and 26. The final presentation will take place on November 30.”

Informative second presentation under the saddle for dressage stallions
Today the second presentation under the saddle for the dressage stallions took place in Ermelo. Seventeen selected stallions were presented by their own riders and can be delivered on November 11 for the performance test.
For sixteen selected stallion, this was the second time they were presented in Ermelo. The Las Vegas son, Ramiera-de J, was absent with a valid reason last time, so this was his first appearance at the saddle presentation.
Delivery
Stallion selection committee member Johan Hamminga guided the combinations, offering minor tips, making it interesting to see how the stallions responded. “The stallion selection committee is gaining an increasingly clear picture of the stallions and, as last time, has discussed its findings with the owners that were present,” says senior inspector Floor Dröge. “It is up to the owners to decided whether they deliver their stallion on November 11 or, as has been advised a few times, to choose a later moment instead. Overall, the stallions performed well under the saddle and were easy to assess, so we looik forward to the delivery with confidence.”
