Successful First Day of the Jumper Stallions
The first day of the first round viewing, powered by AJ Bedrijfsdiensten, resulted in an interesting group of stallions selected for the second round viewing in the jumping category. 23 stallions received the green light today.
At the beginning of the day, before the free jumping, a minute of silence was held in memory of Carlo van Kaathoven. He had been a long-time valued member of the team assisting with free jumping.
Various Ages
The stallion inspection committee evaluated a total of 47 stallions today and selected 21 jumper stallions born in 2021 for the second round viewing, which will take place on January 29-30 during the KWPN Stallion Show. Additionally, the 4.5-year-old Patapsco (by Diamant de Semilly) was invited to participate again in the stallion competition, where the committee will assess him in the course, just as they did in IJsselmuiden. The 3.5-year-old Royal-Star M (by Poker de Mariposa TN) was invited for the second round viewing after a saddle presentation, and will jump a small course again in Den Bosch as part of the second round viewing. The pedigrees were very diverse today. The German sire Perigieux had two sons selected, and from the first crop of Newmarket VM, a son was immediately chosen for Den Bosch.
Well Assessed
On behalf of the stallion inspection committee, senior inspector Henk Dirksen commented: "The committee is definitely satisfied with the first day. This morning, there were quite a few remarks to be made about moving on the hard surface, which prevented some stallions from being selected for Den Bosch. In the afternoon, this improved. Overall, the stallions were good to assess during free jumping. Some were a bit on the fresh side, but ample time was allowed for that. We have definitely been able to select a group of genetically interesting stallions for Den Bosch. Pedigree is taken into account positively in this round, which helped some stallions, who met the conformation requirements, to get a second chance in Den Bosch. These stallions may not have convinced as much in the free jumping today but were given the opportunity based on their conformation and pedigree. Additionally, we saw several stallions who were able to convince on all fronts today, which gives good hope for the continuation of the stallion selection. The committee was also able to invite stallions whose sires have not yet had sons in breeding. All in all, a promising start today!" said Henk Dirksen.
