Performance test report

Conformation
More than sufficiently developed stallion with good jumping horse conformation. The head is more than sufficiently attractive. The poll has sufficient length. The neck has more than sufficient length and muscle. The shoulder has good length and sufficient placement. The withers are well developed and with good length. The back has sufficient length and muscling. The loins are well-connected and well-muscled. The croup has good length, placement and muscling. The front leg has more than sufficient length and is correct. The hind leg is correct. The legs are more than sufficiently developed and of sufficient quality. The hooves are sufficiently developed, with a slightly high heel in the left front.

Lineage

Durango VDL is a son of the first line of offspring from Zirocco Blue. This Mr. Blue- son is successful in the show jumping sport himself under Jur Vrieling. The dam is Narona, a ster, preferent daughter of the influential jumping sire Lux. She previously produced an approved son of Indorado and an Advanced (ZZ) show jumper by Marlon. Granddam Rebekka is a ster,  preferent, prestatie mare out of the Thoroughbred Lucky Boy xx. She is also the mother of international show jumper Opstalan’s Power (s.Le Mexico) ridden by Albert Voorn. The dam-line continues with the Gelder-bred kroon, preferent mare Frelona (s.Artilleur). 
 
Inspection Report
Durango VDL is an honest, reliable and playful stallion with a good character. The stallion is very willing to work and well trainable, and has a good mouth. The walk has sufficient to more than sufficient scope. The trot has sufficient scope, but should be more sound. The canter is light-footed and has good scope. The stallion has more than sufficient to good carriage and balance. Durango VDL jumps with good reflexes and good technique in the front leg, and finishes the jump more than sufficiently well in the hind quarters. The stallion uses his body well over the jumps. Durango VDL seems cautious and shows a lot of power. Durango VDL shows abundant talent for jumping and gives his rider a good feeling.

Stable Behavior

Durango VDL is an honest and reliable stallion. He is easy on the ground and quiet in his stall.  

Veterinary Report
When presented, the stallion was recovering from an injury to the right hind leg. The injury healed sufficiently during the stallion test and no medication was given.

Expected fertility class: sufficient.

Breeding Recommendation
Durango VDL can improve jumping horse breeding with technique, rideability and character, and should preferably be used with long-lined mares.

Dam Report

Narona is a sufficiently developed mare with more than sufficient jumping horse conformation. The head is small and attractive. The throatlatch is sufficiently light. The neck is sufficient in length but a little horizontal, and has good muscling in the top line. The withers are well-developed and extend more than sufficiently into the back. The shoulder has normal length and could be a little less steep. The back is a little sloped, the loins are well-connected. The croup has good placement but could have a little more length. The front leg is correct when viewed from the side, the pasterns are weak. The hind leg is slightly bent. The hooves are broad, but the heels could be a little more developed. The legs have sufficient quality but are a little delicate. The walk is sound and active, with sufficient scope. The mare wings in the walk, especially in the left front. The trot has more than sufficient scope, impulsion and elasticity. The hind leg could be placed under the mass a little more. The canter has sufficient scope and impulsion, but could show a little more elasticity. The mare was slightly unsound at the time of testing.

Performance test scores

Offspring report

Durango VDL showed a uniform collection of very well-developed foals with good rectangular-shaped conformation and presence. The croup is sloped, but the line from the point of the hip to the point of the buttock should be longer. Of the 24 foals scored at their home location, several had a tight topline, a trait which was not observed in foals selected by their registered parties. The legs are correct and tight. The walk has sufficient scope. The trot has sufficient scope. The canter has good scope but needs more elasticity.
