Performance test report

Laurentz is a beautiful Gelderland stallion. He has a lot of neck, with a remarkably good poll. The back/loins formation is strongly muscled. The front leg is a little back at the knee.

Laurentz is an honest, reliable even-tempered stallion. He is very willing to work. The walk is big and sufficiently active. The trot is big, but the hind leg is a little slow in coming underneath. The canter is big and has enough power. In dressage he works well and is nice to ride. As a dressage horse he has a sufficient talent and gives his rider a good feeling. The stallion is also nice to jump. He could be a little quicker off the ground and could show a little more suppleness. He has sufficient take-off and ability. As a jumper, Laurentz has sufficient to more than sufficient talent and gives his rider a more than sufficient feeling. In the harness work the stallion is also very willing to work and drives well. The walk has good scope, but the hind leg could have more suppleness. The trot also has good scope, but the hind leg could be brought underneath more actively. The stallion has good pulling posture and shows a lot of effort. As a harness horse, Laurentz shows a great deal of aptitude.

A varied collection of more than sufficiently developed foals was presented under very difficult weather conditions (heavy rain). The foals are a little lacking in Gelders type, but then again they were almost all out of riding type mares. The foals trot with a lot of front, but the hindleg should carry better.
The head is sufficient in form. The foals have a lot of poll, the neck is long and well muscled and is carried well. The Gelders type does show up well in the front. The wither is well formed, the shoulder has good length and placement. The back/loin formation is a bit long sometimes and a bit weak. The croup is most often sloping and well muscled. The hamstring has sufficient length. The foreleg is often back at the knee with a straight pastern. The hindleg is rather long with weak pasterns. The hock is a bit round.
The walk is big and sufficiently active. Some foals showed a lateral walk. The foals make a good front in the trot and they have good scope but they should trot more off the ground. The trot is pushing. The hindleg is slow; the foreleg stays rather flat. The canter could not be judged. One foal inspected at home fit in with the rest of the picture in regards to conformation. Because of an injury movement could not be evaluated. The dams were not of Gelders type and were of moderate quality.
